The Holla Africa App — Download & Install Guide

Every club has its own Android app. Here is how to get yours, and the one upgrade quirk to know about.

Each club has its own app

There isn't one Holla Africa app — there are thirteen, one per club. Play at Lion, install the Lion app. Play at Mel, install Mel. Each opens straight into its own club, so you skip the club picker every time.

The current version is 1.0.4.

Getting it

Go to your club's app page and tap download. The pattern is the same for every club:

It isn't on the Play Store. You're downloading the APK directly from us, so Android will ask you to allow installs from this source the first time. That prompt is normal — it appears for any app not installed through the Store.

Installing, step by step

1. Open your club's app page on your phone and tap Download
2. Android warns about the file type — tap Download anyway
3. Open the downloaded file
4. If prompted, allow installs from your browser, then tap Install
5. Open the app and sign in with your usual details

Your account is the same one you use on the website. Nothing separate to create.

If an update won't install

Upgrading from version 1.0.2 or older? Uninstall the old app first, then install the new one. Our signing key was rotated on 27 August 2026, and Android refuses to update an app when the key has changed — it shows a generic "app not installed" error.

Uninstalling does not touch your account, balance or history. Those live on our servers, not on your phone. Sign back in and everything is where you left it.

From 1.0.3 onwards, updates install over the top normally.

Android only

There is no iPhone app — that's deliberate, not an oversight. On iPhone, use the website. It works fully in Safari, and you can add it to your home screen from the share menu for an app-like icon on your home screen.

Is it safe?

It's our own build, signed by us, downloaded from our own domain over HTTPS. The Android warning is about the source not being the Play Store, not about the file itself. If you'd rather not install anything, the website does everything the app does.
